Brooklyn cocktail bars

How The Cocktail Bar League ranks Brooklyn's cocktail bars head-to-head. Season 1 kicks off Fall 2026.

The short version

Brooklyn is one of three founding boroughs in The Cocktail Bar League. Eight Brooklyn cocktail bars will compete head-to-head across the Fall 2026 season. Anonymous scouts visit every founding bar at least twice. Every drink is scored on a 0-10 rubric alongside hospitality and decor. A live ladder tracks the standings. The Brooklyn champion advances to the citywide finals.

How Brooklyn is judged

Drink quality (60%)

Every visit, the scout orders three drinks from three different sections of the bar's menu. Each is scored 0-10 on balance, execution, and craft.

Hospitality (15%)

Warmth, pacing, and how the room treats a guest who's in the seat. Scored independently of the drink.

Decor (10%)

Room quality is scored once per bar per season. Speakeasies, hotel bars, corner joints, the rubric accepts all of them.

Speed-adjusted bonus (10%) + Google rating (5%)

Faster than the category benchmark earns a bonus, slower earns a penalty. A frozen Google rating snapshot rounds out the score.

The Brooklyn founding class

Eight Brooklyn cocktail bars are invited to the Season 1 founding class. The invitation list finalizes in August 2026. Bars in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Cobble Hill, Fort Greene, Crown Heights, Bushwick, and Park Slope are all on the longlist. Bars that want to be considered can put their name in through the founding-bars page.
